The "My LITTLE LIBRARY" PROJECT
“Literacy unlocks the door to learning throughout life, is essential to development and health, and opens the way for democratic participation and active citizenship."
—Kofi Annan, former Secretary-General of the United Nations
THE PROJECT

Our mission is to start a project to donate books to students based on their interests, in hopes of increasing their enthusiasm to learn. This project will target certain schools in Odisha, India, in impoverished regions. Our hope is to support education in these areas to build a stronger foundation for the students, who may then take steps to better their communities.

By supporting literacy in the areas that need it the most, we hope that we can open up avenues for new opportunity for the students in the schools that we sponsor. Many of the students in these schools do not receive the resources and attention they require to pursue their interest in certain topics, and therefore are unable to choose a career path of their choice. Our hope is to encourage students to pursue their interests and realize the value of education.
THE FACTS
Odisha's Literacy Rate (2011) - 73.5%
Compared to the global literacy rate of 84.1% (2011), this figure is well below the average.
